I have no idea why, but it's the only way to resolve it. This is fixed by shuffling between menu tabs in the Modify dialogue, and then going to a browser and switching through a few browser tabs. The only real problem is that while it works fine on the first launch, on subsequent launches it often just starts up stuck on black screen. I've attached what I've come up with, which works fine aside from a very subtle shimmering around objects that are updated, and a lack of sound which I wasn't going to use anyway. I've been tinkering around with USM '98/'99 for a few days now because the included profile didn't do the trick for me.
